One of Those Days

Do you wake up each morning feeling loved, accepted, and worthy...or do you sometimes wake up the way I do, wondering how you could ever be worthy?

It isn't uncommon in the world today to feel alone, sad, lost, or even unlovable. The world's most recent rhetoric tells us that we are not worthy of love or acceptance. We are told that we are unworthy because we are too old or too young, not physically beautiful according to worldly standards, have the wrong skin color, live lives of "wrong" sexual beliefs, or are saddled with sins of our past or even present. The world and even many who claim to be
"Christians" tell us that we are not worthy because we are not perfect in their eyes and judgment. This lie haunts us, torments us, and even keeps us from living our destined lives.

It is easy for us to begin to lose heart and become saddened, thinking that there has to be something so very wrong with us that we cannot find or feel the love or acceptance that we see others enjoying every day...right in front of our faces. We are reminded over and over again that we are not worthy. We are told that we can't be loved, we can't be a part of the church, we can't be forgiven, we can't be a part of a family, or that we can't even go outside our home because we do not measure up to the standards of perfection that imperfect men and women set forth. These men and women who live in sin and are yet blind to their own sins point the finger and remind us of our believed shortcomings while mocking the love that Jesus Christ brought to this earth some 2000 years ago. A love that was kind, accepting, edifying, unconditional, and freely given to all of God's people. Now here we are in 2022, and that love is almost gone; having been abandoned by the world, but not give up.  Hang in there. Jesus Christ is the same today as He was 2000 years ago. 1 John 4:16 tells us that "God is Love."

On those days when you feel this way, remember, God loves you, Jesus loves you, and those who genuinely know the Lord and His love will also love you. Do not judge yourself according to the rules and standards of men and women but allow the love of Jesus Christ and faithful Christ-followers to fill your heart. You were created for a purpose. You are loved. You are worthy. Live your life to please the Lord and not imperfect men and women!

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 reminds us, "Therefore, we do not give up. Even though our outer person is being destroyed, our inner person is being renewed day by day. For our momentary light affliction is producing for us an absolutely incomparable eternal weight of glory. So, we do not focus on what is seen but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal."
On those tough days, cling to the Lord and remember that He created you perfectly, exactly how you are. In His eyes, you are perfect. (What about sin, you ask...doesn't that make me imperfect? We'll discuss that another day.) For today...know that you are loved, and you are already worthy!
